On Monday Emma greeted visitors from the West Harton Churches Action Station as part of their visit to Parliament. Louise Barbé and Sandra Nesbitt were invited to visit the House of Lords in recognition of the Action Station’s magnificent work on digital inclusion, which has helped dozens of people access the internet and build their computer skills over the last two months.
The Action Station offers a wide variety of courses for residents in Shields and beyond, including work skills training and CV support, health training and social enterprise courses. The Station has been widely praised for its work in the community, and particularly with those who have disabilities.
Emma Lewell-Buck MP said:
“It was fantastic to meet with Louise and Sandra to learn more about the superb work the Action Station is doing in Shields. Groups like this embody the spirit of community that exists in our town and make me proud to be an MP. I am delighted that their efforts teaching IT skills and helping people gain internet access are getting the recognition they deserve.”
