As well as the centenary of the start of the First World War, this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings, and the Big Lottery Fund is helping veterans to commemorate this important occasion through its Heroes Return grants.
UK veterans can receive grants of up to £8,140 towards travel and accommodation expenses for a visit to places across the world where they served, or to fund a commemorative visit in the UK.
Over £28 million of grants have already been awarded by the Big Lottery Fund for visits to France, Germany, the Far East and elsewhere.
