Emma to Run GNR in Memory of Charlie Cookson

September 6, 2016

I’m looking forward to being ‘in the running’ for a very special cause this weekend. South Shields will be welcoming runners from far and wide at the end of the Great North Run on Sunday. I am proud to say that I will be among those runners, raising money for the Charlie Cookson Foundation.

If anyone needs inspiration to keep going along that last mile, we need look no further than Charlie himself, who died when he was just two and a half years old in October 2013 after battling a complex mystery illness for most of his life. His devoted parents, Chris and Sarah Cookson, set up the Foundation to provide help to other parents faced with the many challenges of caring for a seriously ill child. Over the past few years they have achieved so much and helped so many, even opening a charity shop in South Shields. As I tick off each mile on Sunday, I will be thinking of Charlie, Sarah and Chris, their determination, bravery and positive outlook and hoping that I can raise sponsorship donations as well as raising the profile of this amazing local charity.

If you would like to support the Charlie Cookson Foundation in helping families of children with life-limiting illnesses, you can sponsor me here or visit the Charlie Cookson Foundation website at: charliecookson.org.uk for further information.
