Emma visited Northumbria University yesterday and was shown around by Lucy Winskell, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Business and Engagement).
A Northumbria graduate, Emma was shown work the university has been doing in the areas of low carbon technology, law and health care during her visit and saw the innovative schemes at the university.
Northumbria University is vital to the North East. In South Shields the percentage of students entering higher education is less than a quarter and in the North East in general it is just under 30%, the lowest rate of any region in the country.
Emma said:
“The University has changed so much since I was a student there. I am really impressed at the innovative way they are approaching learning, with a range of practical and real training opportunities.”
