Last week, I was delighted to take part in South Shield’s Poppy Legion Run for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal Campaign. The Poppy Run is a family orientated 5k that takes places up and down the country during the Remembrance period.
I was overjoyed to see the South Shields community come together to show our support for the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces from Britain and the Commonwealth.
As a longstanding supporter of the Armed Forces, I cannot overstate the importance of the Remembrance period and showing our appreciation for the sacrifices they have made to defend the freedoms we enjoy.
I would like to extend my gratitude to all those who took part in the Poppy Run and helped organise such an important event. I look forward to seeing you all at next year’s Run.
