After months of hard work collecting signatures and raising awareness, Emma was delighted to welcome representatives of the WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) group to her Constituency office last week to formally receive a petition asking the Government to take measures to address the pension gap affecting women born in the 1950s. The issue arises because of how and when changes in the state pension age have been implemented and leaves many women with an unexpected income gap of between four and six years to resolve, with little or no notice that they are personally affected . WASPI does not oppose the equalisation of the state retirement age. MPs from across the country are submitting their local WASPI petitions to Parliament this week.
